Location: Downtown Farmers Market, near 3rd Avenue and 5th Street
The City of Cedar Rapids will have staff from a number of city departments on hand to share information with residents about the history of the flood, what has been done since the flood to prepare for flooding, and future flood protection plans.  The City will also have a number of fun prizes and activities, and city vehicles will be on hand for kids and adults to explore.

  •  Residents will be able to:
  • Learn how the City has recovered since the 2008 flood
  • Take the City Manager’s 1-Bag Challenge
  • Talk with staff from City departments and learn more about City services
  • Meet mascots Otto the River Otter, McGruff the Crime Dog, Gill the Fish, Yardy and Curby
  • Get a refreshing glass of Cedar Rapids’ award-winning water
  • Have children fingerprinted by Police Department volunteers
  • Explore City vehicles including a fire truck, police squad car, boom truck, sewer televising truck and mini litter vacuum or leaf truck
  • Enter a drawing to win a free family pool pass (value $261), enter a drawing to win a golf outing (value $184)
  • T-shirts will be available to the first 400 individuals. Sizes available while supplies last.
  • At 10:00 a.m., the Cedar Rapids City Council will have a brief presentation in Greene Square, followed by a community photo with individuals wearing the flood recovery t-shirt.
