Friday, December 8 2017 to Saturday, December 9 2017
An interactive, fun night ride, local bike shop expo, raffle and a three hour endurance ride on a 3.75 mile course are all part of the Fat Bike weekend coming to Cedar Rapids.
The GO CR Fat Sac & Fox Enduro Ride returns for its second year December 8 and 9, 2017. GO Cedar Rapids, the Linn Area Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA) and the Cedar Rapids Parks Department are coming together to host the largest Fat Bike event in the Cedar Rapids area. Last year, the event drew more than 125 participants from across Iowa and beyond.
This year’s two day event will include an interactive night ride, bicycle expo, raffle and a three hour endurance ride. Events kick off Friday, December 8 with registration and an interactive night ride beginning at 7 p.m. that will take riders to areas not part of the normal trail system. Along the way, riders will make pit stops at several Cedar Rapids locations for food, drink and fun.
Saturday’s events take place at Indian Creek Nature Center, 5300 Otis Rd, Cedar Rapids, beginning with the expo of local bike shops opening at 10 a.m. A Specialized Fatboy SE Fat Bike (MSRP $1400) will be raffled off during the events. Attendees will be able to enjoy lunch at multiple onsite food vendors beginning at noon, which is also when the Enduro Ride begins. Registration is now open for individuals and teams. The public is welcome to attend and view the race at no charge.
The enduro ride will take place on a 3.75 mile course using parts of the Sac & Fox Trail. Individual and team riders will bike as many laps as possible in the three hour race. An after party will take place at Indian Creek Nature Center following the race, where winners will be awarded in both individual and team categories.
Registration information, tickets, merchandise and raffle tickets along with host hotel information and rates are all available through the event website: GOCRFatBike.com.
